Anthony Ray Lamendola, 82, formerly of Massena, passed away Thursday, Oct. 25 at the Syracuse VA Medical Center where he had been a patient since April.
Ray was born Oct. 3, 1930 in Massena, the son of the late Andrew and Charlotte Lazore Lamendola. He attended Massena High School, graduating in 1949, and later from Syracuse University with a Bachelor’s Degree.
Ray served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean War, until he was Honorably Discharged in April 1953. He spent several years as the manager of Power City Bus Lines, in Massena. Among Ray’s many interests, spending time with his family was his greatest joy.
Ray is survived by a daughter, Shelley A. Griffith; two sons, Andrew R. Lamendola, and Anthony R. Lamendola Jr.; three grandchildren, Brad Griffith, Katrina Lamendola, and Miranda Ashley; two sisters, Janet Moniere and Betty Lamendola; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur T. Lamendola, May 18, 2009, and Sam Lamendola, July 1, 1980; and a sister, Ruth Hemlock, April 29, 1985.
Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Monday, 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Scott D. Fobare, celebrating.
Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery, Massena.
