Alberta M. Scott, 91, formerly of Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG -- A Funeral Mass for Mrs. Alberta M. Scott, age 91, of Mitchellville, MD and formerly of Ogdensburg will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday (Dec 10, 2018) at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours will be held on Sunday (Dec 9) from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.

Alberta Monique Scott, passed away last Wednesday, (December 5, 2018), at the Collington Life Care Community, located in Mitchellville, Maryland, where she has resided for six and a half years. She was cared for by Collington nursing staff, the Hospice of the Chesapeake, and her children. Mrs. Scott was married to the late Gilbert W. Scott, who predeceased her in February 2006.

Mrs. Scott was born in Brunswick, Maine, daughter of the late Edouard D. and Rebecca Coulombe Bouchard. She had six siblings, Remi, Albert, Paul, Lorette, Loretta, and Roland, all of whom predeceased her.

Surviving are four sons: Gary (Marcia) Scott of Somerset CA, John (Delia) Scott of Riva MD, Peter Scott of Washington DC and Frank Scott of Kensington MD; two daughters Shirley (Harry) Pereira of Florence, SC and Helen (Mark) Van Sise of Long Pond, PA; and two grandsons: Jonathan Pereira of Myrtle Beach SC and Raine Scott of Berkeley, California, along with two sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Scott was born on June 19, 1927 in Brunswick ME, a daughter of the late Edouard D. and Rebecca (Coulombe) Bouchard. She attended schools in Brunswick and Lewiston, and later married Gilbert W. Scott on October 24, 1953 at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Brunswick, ME. Mr. Scott’s employment at the Rutland Railroad brought the family to Ogdensburg in 1955.

She enjoyed church activities, visiting with family and friends and traveling. She was a stay at home mother, a member of the St. Mary’s Cathedral Choir, and volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul Society thrift store.
