BRASHER FALLS -- The son and grandson of the World War II veteran who died last week were part of the honor guard at his funeral today.

Donald P. Hoag was 92 years old when he died last Thursday at the Highland Nursing Home.

He was buried today at St. Patrick Cemetery in Brasher Falls with Hoag's son, Michael, and grandson Martin, both veterans themselves, joined with the American Legion Post 514 rifle squad’s 21 gun salute at the cemetery this morning.

He was a tail gunner on a B-24, also known as the Liberator, and flew 40 combat missions. A 64-year member of Post 514, Don was Commander 1951 and proudly served on the rifle squad until he was 90 years old.
