WPBS-tv to offer fans a chance to appear on outdoor adventure show

North Country public broadcasting fans will soon have a chance to appear on outdoor adventure television show.

WPBS-TV, the PBS station serving Northern New York and Eastern Ontario, Canada will premiere its new show "Xpedition Outdoors."

A pilot episode for the new series, hosted by local outdoor enthusiast Chris LaShomb, will highlight nature’s adventures from around the region.

Viewers will also have an opportunity to enter to win a spot as a guest-host on a future episode in The TV Casting Contest.

The pilot episode was shot at Ausable Chasm near Northern New York’s Lake Champlain in the Adirondacks; beginning with our host on a ‘short’ 30-foot rappel and 150-foot tyrolean traverse (cable traverse) and finishing with an 80-foot rappel and then a 200-foot traverse that is 130 feet above the Ausable River.

The episode premieres at at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 22. It will be shown again at 9 a.m. on Jan. 26, and at 10:30 p.m. Jan. 31.

The pilot will also be available for streaming at watch.wpbstv.org.

The series is being shot in high definition and includes unique POV (Point of View) shots using cameras mounted to helmets or bodies to give the audience an exceptional appreciation for the adventure at hand.

The TV Casting Contest will discover individuals interested in participating in the production of an outdoor action adventure television show. Xpedition Outdoors. The TV Casting Contest winners will receive a guest spot on a future episode.

Entrants must submit a video before March 31, 2013 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time.

Entries will be judged by WPBS-TV between April 1, 2013 and April 30, 2013.

Selected videos will then posted on the following but platforms not limited to, the WPBS-TV website, social media sites and the television stations operated by WPBS-TV for public viewing and voting. Eligibility, How to Enter and Guidelines will be posted at wpbstv.org and on the official WPBS-TV Facebook page.
