GOUVERNEUR -- State police say a woman is jailed without bail after breaking into a Gouverneur man’s house and stealing $300.
Gail M. Wylie, 45, of Philadelphia, N.Y. was charged Friday with second-degree burglary and first-degree criminal contempt, both felonies, troopers said.
On Friday, troopers say they responded to a residence on U.S. Highway 11, in the town of Gouverneur, for a report of a burglary.
Troopers say the victim told them he was sleeping in his bed and was awakened around 1 a.m. by Wylie.
When the victim told Wylie to leave, she did so, and he then discovered he was missing about $300 in U.S. currency, troopers said.
There is an order of protection against Wylie with the victim listed as the protected party, according to troopers.
Wylie was located, arrested and arraigned at the Town of Gouverneur Court where she was remanded to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with no bail, police said.
