POTSDAM – A woman who hit a pole with her vehicle on Market Street has been charged with driving while intoxicated and texting while driving.
Village police responded early Thursday to a report of a vehicle into a telephone pole at the intersection of Market Street and May Road.
The officer observed that a vehicle had come from May Road and continued through the intersection and struck the pedestrian crosswalk pole on Market Street.
The operator was identified as Michelle E. Coloney, 24, Harrisville. She did not sustain any injuries, according to police.
The officer believed Coloney was intoxicated and she was taken into custody.
At the station, testing revealed her blood alcohol level to be .11 percent.
Coloney was issued traffic tickets and was released.
Patrols were assisted by the Potsdam Fire Department for cleanup up debris and leaking fluids from the vehicle.
