MASSENA -- Village police say a woman is held without bail on seven counts stemming from a 2013 incident where she stole a friend’s bank card and made fraudulent purchases.
Michele E. Reese, 46, of 100 West Ave., Rochester is charged with two felony counts of second-degree forgery and five misdemeanor counts of petit larceny.
She allegedly deceived Lindalee Puccia into cashing fraudulent checks written from Weldon E. Peterson’s Seacomm account totaling $300 on April 11, 2013. Court documents state that Reese convinced Puccia that the checks were from a family member.
Reese also had told Puccia her name was Michele Polumbo, the documents said.
Reese then stole Puccia’s Woodforest Bank debit card and used it to purchase merchandise totaling $39.71 at Price Chopper and $15.21 at Rite Aid on April 10, 2013; $86.50 worth of merchadise at Walmart on April 13; and withdrawing $305 in two separate transactions at Sunoco on April 14, 2013.
Reese was brought to Massena from Rochester, arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald Sharlow and remanded to the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, without bail.
