MASSENA – An Akwesasne woman was arrested for felony drunk driving with a child in the vehicle and numerous other charges Wednesday night, according to state police.

Tammy L. White, 45, was charged with violating Leandra's Law, or aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child under age 15 in the vehicle at 9:55 p.m. on NYS Hwy. 37 C, police said.

Leandra's Law was signed into law on Nov. 18, 2009 in honor of Leandra Rosado, an 11-year old killed while she rode in a vehicle with the intoxicated mother of one of her friends.

She was also cited for obstructing governmental administration, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway, no motor vehicle license and no or inadequate headlines, police said.

She was released to a third party, police said.
