STOCKHOLM -- A Winthrop man was awaiting arraignment after his arrest on child porn possession and other charges today.

A search warrant was executed today at 833 Buckton Road, Winthrop by New York State Police and the New York State Police Computer Crimes Unit, along with the New York State Police Special Operations Response Team and Homeland Security Investigations, based on a multi-agency investigation.

Richard B. Giles, 41, was arrested and charged with promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child, possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child, forcible touching, endangering the welfare of a child, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Investigators said Giles possessed child pornography and forcibly touched a minor he knew.

He was also found in possession of a loaded handgun for which he did not have a permit, troopers said.

Giles was to be arraigned by Town of Stockholm Justice Wayne Williams later today.
