Winter Weather Advisory issued for possible snow, low visibility Saturday, with 'dangerous' wind chill to return Sunday in North Country

A winter weather advisory has been issued for the North Country, with accumulations of two to five inches of snow expected overnight Friday and into Saturday.

Snow may fall at rates of up to a half-inch per hour, especially late Saturday, according to the National Weather Service, which issued the advisory.

The advisory will remain in effect through Saturday at 10 p.m., according to the NWS.

The snow will likely begin early Saturday, with periods of light or blowing snow throughout the day. Snow will probably “taper off to snow showers” Saturday evening, the service says.

Travel may be slow due to snow accumulation and low visibility from blowing snow, with wind gusts expected to reach up to 40 mph.

Temperatures will briefly rise into the 20’s Saturday, before returning to the single digits Sunday. The National Weather Service is again warning of “dangerously low” wind chills of 20 to 30 below zero Sunday.
