Winter Storm Watch, Hazardous Weather Outlook still in effect for St. Lawrence Valley through 7 a.m. Thanksgiving Day

A Winter Storm Watch and Hazardous Weather Outlook remain in effect through 7 a.m. Thanksgiving Day for the St. Lawrence Valley, according to the National Weather Service.

The watch, in effect due to expected heavy snow and mixed precipitation, includes Massena, Ogdensburg, Potsdam, and Gouverneur, according to the service.

Total accumulation is expected to reach 6 to 10 inches, with rates of up to a half inch per hour expected, primarily Wednesday evening, the service said.

Hazardous road conditions are still possible, the service said. Visibility may drop to a half mile during periods of heavy snowfall.

Cold and windy conditions are expected to settle over the area for Thanksgiving Day, the service said. Temperatures may become more moderate Sunday and into next week.

• Late Afternoon: Snow. High near 33. West wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

• Tonight: Snow, mainly before 4am. Low around 16. West wind 11 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

• Thanksgiving Day: Scattered snow showers, mainly before 8am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 22. Wind chill values as low as -1. West wind 11 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

• Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 7. Wind chill values as low as zero. Light and variable wind.

• Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 20. Calm wind becoming northwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

• Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around -4. Light and variable wind.

• Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 23. Southeast wind 3 to 5 mph.

• Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17. South wind around 8 mph.

• Sunday: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 34. South wind around 8 mph.

• Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 25. South wind 3 to 7 mph.

• Monday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. Northeast wind around 7 mph.
