The North Country forecast is heavily slanted toward snow through Thanksgiving, culminating in a Winter Storm Watch from midnight Nov. 27 through midnight on Thanksgiving, according to the National Weather Service.

The Winter Storm Watch covers northern St. Lawrence County, including Massena, Ogdensburg, Potsdam, and Gouverneur due to a large storm system making its way up the east coast, the service says.

Hazards may include snow, sleet, and freezing rain, with accumulations of six inches or more, the service says. Hazardous travel conditions are possible, and visibility may drop below a half mile.

The service predicts light now to begin late Tuesday, changing to a mixture of snow, sleet, and rain Wednesday morning. Precipitation will likely change back to snow late Wednesday afternoon, with most snow accumulation Wednesday, the service says.
