Winter storm warning runs 7 a.m. Tuesday through 8 p.m. Wednesday with 6-12 inches of snow expected in St. Lawrence County

A winter storm warning is in effect for St. Lawrence County Tuesday at 7 a.m. through Wednesday at 8 p.m. with six to twelve inches of snow possible along with high winds, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Snow will be heavy at times, developing Tuesday morning and becoming heaviest in late afternoon and evening, NWS says.

Snowfall could be one inch per hour with morning commutes on Tuesday and Wednesday expected to be difficult, the service says.

Hazardous driving conditions are excepted due to snow covered roads, low visibility and blowing and drifting snow.

Winds will be 10 to 15 mph with gusts of 30 mph possible, NWS says.

Temps will be in the low teens to around 10 degrees on Tuesday night and in the lower 20s on Wednesday, the service says.

NWS advises to only travel in an emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Today’s high will be near 19 with partly sunny skies. Overnight lows of 11 with wind chill values of -3 are expected.

Snow, mainly after 11am. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 22. Wind chill values as low as -1. Northeast wind 10 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Tuesday Night

Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 14. North wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Wednesday

Snow. High near 23. Northwest wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 10. Northwest wind around 11 mph.

Thursday

Mostly sunny, with a high near 23. West wind 9 to 11 mph.
