MASSENA -- Organizers of the Massena Winter Carnival have released the winners of the photo contest, parade floats and raffles.
The photo contest popular vote winner was Suzanne Stearns’ “Morning Hunt” in the adult category and Ryan Deshane’s “Ryan’s Frosty the Snowman” in the K-12 category. Deshane’s photo also took first place overall in the K-12 division. In the adult divison, Lisa Francis-Benedict’s “The Rising Winter Sun” won first place. Second place went to Joshua Thomas’ “Frozen Berries” and third was George Robert Love’s “Winter Peacefulness.”
First place winners received $100, second place won $75 and third won $50. Division winners were picked by judges Nate Lashomb, Chad Simpson and Bob Beckstead. Popular vote was based on Facebook “likes” and votes cast at the Massena Public Library. Those winners each received a $25 gift card.
In the parade contest, Trinity Catholic School was the winner. Second place went to New York State Police and third went to the Boys and Girls Club of Massena. Judges included Kelly Gordon, Linda McDonald, Pamela Barclay, Michelle LaShomb and Matt Lebire.
Steve Rushlow won the 50/50 raffle and Cindy Durant won the $50 button raffle.
