Wind and warm temperatures will be the major weather features today in the St. Lawrence Valley.

After a couple of gray days, the National Weather Service says we will see a couple of days with mostly sunny skies this weekend before clouds and wintery temperatures return.

Gusts as high as 45 mph from the southwest are expected, strong enough, the NWS warns, to cause some power outages.

They also warn of slippery spots on roads and walkways today. Temperatures will reach as high as the low to mid 40s today, but sub-surface temperatures might remain at or below freezing. Things should improve through the course of the day. the NWS says.

Winds will moderate to 10 to 18 mph tonight as temperatures dip into the low 20s under partly cloudy skies.

Sunday, we can expect a fair bit of sunshine with highs near 30 and moderate southwest winds.

Sunday night it will cloud up with temperatures around 10 degrees, and moderate winds will bring wind chill values to about zero.
