A woman in Hammond said last night's powerful winds surprised her by tossing her 200-pound snowblower 50 feet through her yard. Christine Adams guessed the gusts had to be over 55 mph to do that.

The winds have died down now, and temperatures are continuing to drop today as the cold front -- along with its strong winds -- made its way through the North Country.

No major damage was reported by Tuesday night's strong and gusty winds. Some trees and limbs did fall and there were spotty power outages, but no large-scale outages were reported.

The National Weather Service says that high pressure will settle in tonight from the west, with calmer conditions, mainly clear skies and very cold temperatures, down to about zero tonight. An “Alberta Clipper” will bring light snow late Thursday afternoon through Thursday night with small snow accumulations expected across the region. Highs Thursday are expected to be in the mid-20s, and back into the single digits that night.

The clipper system departs Friday with temperatures remaining seasonably cold with highs only in the teens.

Friday night and Saturday, the NWS predicts a 30 to 40 percent chance of snow, with clouds continuing in our skies Saturday night, with lows both nights around 5 degrees and highs Saturday around 22.

Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny with temps into the mid-20s, ten down to about 17 Sunday night with clouds, before warming on Monday, up to about 37 degrees, with a chance of snow.
