The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for much of St. Lawrence County through tonight, with wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour possible.
Potentially hazardous, strong sustained northeast winds of 21 and 29 mph are expected throughout the day, with some higher gusts, the weather service says.
The advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. tonight
Meanwhile, the rain, snow, and sleet that covered much of the North Country overnight should become all rain in most parts of St. Lawrence County after 9 a.m..
High temperature is predicted to be near 43. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.
Tonight, rain is likely, mainly before 7 p.m., the Weather Service says. Skies should be loudy, with a low around 36. East wind between 7 and 16 mph.
Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch are possible.
The Weather service warns isolated power outages will be possible due to the wind and heavy, wet snow along with scattered downed tree limbs and branches.
