A wind chill advisory has been issued for St. Lawrence County from midnight tonight until noon on Saturday with wind chill values of 20 to 29 below zero possible, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Today’s high will be near 19 with a 20 percent chance of snow showers between 1 and 4 p.m.
Tonight the temperature will drop to around -2 with winds of 7 to 10 mph and gusts as high as 20 mph, the service says.
Saturday will remain dangerously cold with highs near 13 and wind chill values as low as -20, NWS says. Saturday night will see a low near -3 with winds of 3 to 8 mph.
A wind chill advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills.
This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken, NWS says. If you must venture outdoors, make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
Frostbite is possible on exposed skin after 30 minutes of exposure.
Highs on Sunday will each into the mid 20s with calm winds. Sunday night lows will be around 15 with predominantly calm winds, NWS says.
