A wind advisory is in effect for St. Lawrence County through 1 p.m. today as winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected with gusts up to 50 mph possible, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The winds will be strong enough to damage trees and branches leading to possible power outages, NWS says. Winds have already reached 50 mph in some locations.
Power is out to 39 National Grid customers in Macomb this morning. National Grid workers expect to have power restored around 7:30 a.m. Less than five homes are also without power in Lawrence with an estimated time of 7:15 a.m. before it will be fixed, National Grid says.
A wind advisory means that wind gusts from 46 to 57 mph are expected, the service says. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
Snow showers are likely this morning to go along with the strong winds. Highs today will be near 24 with about one inch of snow accumulation possible.
The overnight low will be around 9 degrees with wind chill values of -1. Winds will be 6 to 14 mph with gusts as high as 26 mph, NWS says.
