Forecast: Widespread showers to dominate Memorial Day; cooler, wet weather expected for much of week in St. Lawrence County

Widespread showers are expected throughout Memorial Day in Northern New York with a quarter to half inch of rain expected, with the highest amounts across the northern

Adirondacks and St. Lawrence Valley, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Overcast skies and showers will keep temperatures in the upper 50s to mid 60s today, NWS says.

Wind gusts could be as high as 25 miles per hour today with 11 to 14 mph winds throughout the day, NWS says. Overnight lows will be near 57.

The showers end by Monday evening, the service says. However, another round of showers and some thunderstorms will move across the area on Tuesday.

Slightly below seasonal temps are expected as we head into early June, along with daily

chances for shower activity, NWS says.

The forecast through next weekend is as follows:

Tuesday

A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 10am and 5pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. Southwest wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday Night

A 30 percent chance of showers before 9pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 55. Southwest wind 8 to 10 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Wednesday

Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 70. Southwest wind 9 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. Southwest wind 7 to 9 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
