CANTON -- As part of its “2012 Family & Community Weekend,” SUNY Canton will host author Cheri Farnsworth for a meet-and-greet and book signing this Saturday, Sept. 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Roselle Plaza at the entrance to the Miller Campus Center, rain or shine.
Copies of Farnsworth’s latest book, “Wicked Northern New York” will be available to purchase and have signed, as well as “Murder & Mayhem in St. Lawrence County,” “Murder & Mayhem in Jefferson County,” and the entire four-volume “Haunted Northern New York” series. There will also be copies of a new booklet entitled “Strange Northern New York.”
“Haunted Northern New York,” Volume 4 includes 28 new stories, including first-hand accounts of haunting at Potsdam’s Satterlee Hall and Holcroft House, Thompson Park in Watertown, a haunted rescue squad building, and the Hub Theme Cottage.
“Wicked” offers the best of the worst in this compilation of true stories, including: “The Day Mrs. Miller Was Snatched from Her Bed,” “The Woman Who Was Won in a Game of Cards,” “The Day Daniel Murdock Rose from the Grave,” “The Invasion of the Body Snatchers: Northern New York,” “Wild Men of Northern New York (the Hairy, Scary Kind),” “The Man Who Stole a Hundred Horses,” “The Taking (and Return…Seventeen Years Later) of Little Freddie Brosseau,” “Beware of Brothels (and Maidens with Blond Tresses),” “The Election Day Massacre in a Town Dubbed “Bloodville,”’ “Girl with the Evil Eye,” and “So the Devil Would Leave Him Alone.”
