POTSDAM – An anonymous business owner is set to open “Who Knows What” offering a place for collectors and dealers to browse and purchase hundreds of local and national antiques and treasures.

The business owner, who identified himself as Kris Kringle, says he plans to open shop in about a month at 2 Elm St. which is located behind First Crush Bistro.

The store will be small but will be filled with worldly and local treasures that all have a story attached, the anonymous owner said.

“I want it to be a place to ask questions and learn about the history of each item,” he said. “It will be modern to antique…eclectic and unusual.”

Once open, people can check the store out from 10 a.m. until evening hours Monday through Saturday and by appointment on Sundays and other times when the store is not normally open.

For those that can remember, “Kringle” compared his new business venture to an emporium Charlie Gerrish used to run years ago on Market Street.

“It will be similar to that,” he said.

“I welcome people to view items on their own time…if it is midnight or 3 a.m. I will open for those people who work all night and sleep during the day,” he said. “We will cater to anyone’s schedule.”

“Kringle” says he wants “everyone from Ruth Garner and the hospital CEO” to stop in and visit to the “mailman and garbage man.”

Items for sale will be both new and used.

“I want to offer fair-priced items that are interesting, unique, not mass-produced and at have a story behind them and are worth investing in,” he said.

For more information or to set up an appointment call 250-3951.

“I want to keep it not only local-friendly…but college-friendly…professor-friendly…it’s best to come down and check it out,” he said.
