To the Editor:
In response to Ms. Penelope Hernandez's letter, I think that the tone, intention, and meaning behind your letter is admirable.
I would only respectfully add the following: Who cares? We have Separation of Church and State in this country.
We have every right as citizens to be secular and even atheistic. Something written down in a book 2000+ years ago by someone nobody knows or has ever met has absolutely no bearing and/or influence on the human rights guaranteed us in our secular Constitution and Bill of Rights as at State.
Prediction: President Obama racists (Did I say that?…Sorry, I meant “opponents”) will counter by stating that it is the President who wielded undue influence as a State on one particular religious institution/denomination by requiring insurance companies to cover contraception in the Affordable Care Act.
Any takers? Before taking, please point out the exact language in the A.C.A. in which it specifically requires citizens (of any faith) to exercise contraception. Otherwise, please don’t waste your breathe or keystrokes.
