It will be a wettish weekend in the North Country before conditions ease at the start of the work week.
Periods of light snow, possibly mixing with rain, are expected this afternoon and continuing through the weekend with 2 to 6 inches of snow expected to fall by Sunday evening before a ridge of high pressure build into the North Country bringing much quieter weather for Monday and Tuesday, according to the latest report from the National Weather Service.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and the northwestern Adirondacks:
• Today: Rain and snow likely, mainly after 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 36. Southeast wind 5 to 9 mph, a little stronger in the mountains, becoming light in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
• Tonight: Rain and snow, becoming all snow after 8pm. Low 18-25s. Light wind becoming southwest 5 to 7 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
• Sunday: A 50 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high around 30. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
• Sunday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow showers before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 21. Southwest wind around 6 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
• Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 34. Light southwest wind.
• Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 18. Light and variable wind.
• Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 38. East wind 5 to 9 mph.
