Wet conditions still dominate this week's weather in St. Lawrence County

 POTSDAM – The National Weather Service is forecasting hazardous weather for Tuesday this week, with the possibility of strong storms, hail and possibly flash flooding.

A cold front moving through the northern New York region is expected to produce widely scattered showers and thunderstorms late Tuesday afternoon and evening. A few stronger storms are possible, with the primary threat being small hail and gusty winds along with localized heavy downpours and frequent lightning. The NWS reports that isolated flash flooding is possible, especially if any one location receives several rounds of heavy rainfall.

More rain and dreary conditions are expected overall for the week, said the weather service.

Tonight the region will experience cloudy skies, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms of around 40 percent.

Around the predicted storms Tuesday, the high is expected to be near 80 and the North Country could see some sun occasionally.

Tuesday night there will be a 30 percent chance of showers with a low around 61.

More cloudy skies are expected Wednesday with a high about 72 degrees and then showers are likely after 8 p.m. that evening and a low of around 59.

A 40 percent chance of showers are forecast all day and night Thursday, with a high near 74 and a low around 60.

Some sun will peek through the cloud cover on Friday, predicts the National Weather Service, however showers are still likely with a 60 percent chance of precipitation.

Saturday will be finally roll in clear skies and mostly sunny conditions with a high near 79. However, there will be more rain that night with 40 percent chance of precipitation.

More of the same is expected Sunday, with a 40 percent chance of rain that day.
