POTSDAM -- The West Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department recently celebrated its 50th anniversary during the annual banquet.
Many community members and leaders, fire department and rescue squad members, and members of the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York attended the event.
Members of the Madrid Volunteer Fire Department prepared the banquet meal. Several awards were handed out during the festivities including:
• The Chief’s Award, given to Mike Hollinger
• EMS Provider of the Year Award, given to Rosemary Forbes
• Presidents’ Award, given to Marsha Hollinger
• Rookie of the Year Award, given to Stephen Davis
• 35 Year Pin, given to Gary Grant
• 50 Years of Service Award, given to William Grant
The West Potsdam Fire Station was dedicated to past chief Spencer Blanchard during the banquet.
The 2012 officers of the Fire Department are:
• Chief Ronald Forbes
• 1st Assistant Chief Jerry Dibble
• 2nd Assistant Chief Dustin Bradley
• 3rd Assistant Chief Andrew Millers
• Treasurer Fay Sheldon
• Assistant Treasurer William Grant
