A beautiful fall weekend is in store for the St. Lawrence Valley and the Adirondacks Mountains.

The sunny trend and warmer than usual temperatures will continue today, Saturday and Sunday, making for good leaf-peeping weather and good conditions for outdoor work and play.

The National Weather Service says that high pressure across southern Canada will continue to build toward the North Country today, bringing those mostly sunny skies and above normal temperatures.

A weak “back door” cool front will drop south across our region Sunday, with a wind shift to the northeast and slightly cooler temperatures.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:

• This Afternoon: Sunny, with a high near 71. Northeast wind 6 to 8 mph.

• Tonight: Clear, with a low around 40. Light northeast wind.

• Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 72. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.

• Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 44. Southeast wind 3 to 5 mph.

• Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 69. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.

• Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. South wind 3 to 6 mph.

• Columbus Day: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming west in the afternoon.

• Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 43. Calm wind.

• Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 63. Calm wind.

• Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. South wind 3 to 5 mph.
