Wednesday thunderstorms in St. Lawrence County & elsewhere could cause isolated power outages

The National Weather Service is predicting thunderstorms on Wednesday that could produce isolated instances of power outages and downed trees.

"A strong cold front will move across the North Country on Wednesday with scattered showers and thunderstorms expected. Given the anticipated instability and wind profiles, a line of strong to locally severe thunderstorms are possible. The primary threat would be isolated damaging winds, which could produce power outages and trees down," a hazardous weather outlook from the NWS reads.

Leading up to that, they predict a sunny Monday with temperatures in the mid 60s and a 30 percent chance of showers at night with temperatures just below 50.

Tuesday brings an 80 percent chance of rain with highs in the mid 60s during the day and low 60s at night.

Wednesday is expected to reach the mid 70s with showers and thunderstorms possible throughout the day. There is a 30 percent chance of showers at night with temperatures predicted to drop to the mid 40s.

The detailed forecast for St. Lawrence County:

Monday - Sunny, with a high near 66. East wind around 8 mph.

Monday night - A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 3am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 49. South wind 8 to 14 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tuesday - Rain. High near 65. Breezy, with a south wind 17 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday night - Rain likely, mainly between 1am and 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 62. South wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday - Rain before noon, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after noon. High near 72. South wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday night - A 30 percent chance of showers before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. West wind 5 to 9 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Thursday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 63. Light and variable wind.

Thursday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. South wind 3 to 7 mph.

Friday - A 40 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 68. South wind 8 to 13 mph.

Friday night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 46. West wind 7 to 9 mph.

Saturday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 62. West wind 6 to 8 mph.

Saturday night - A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

Sunday - A 30 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 60. West wind around 6 mph.
