Weather Service predicts snowy weekend in Massena, Potsdam, O'burg, Gouverneur, Canton, Star Lake

St. Lawrence County is looking at snow through at least Sunday night, according to predictions from the National Weather Service.

Meteorologists predict a mostly cloudy Thursday evening in Canton, Ogdensburg, Potsdam and Gouverneur, with a 30 percent chance of snowshowers in Massena and Star Lake. Temperatures are predicted around 20 degrees.

Friday brings a 20 to 30 percent chance of snow showers in all areas of St. Lawrence County with highs hitting the mid 30s.

Friday night brings up to 60 percent odds of snowshowers. Temperatures are predicted several degrees below freezing.

Saturday has a 90 percent chance of snow countywide with temperatures maxing out in the mid 30s. Nighttime weather is forecast with a 30 to 40 percent chance of snow with thermometers dropping to around 15 degrees.

Sunday brings 30 to 40 percent chances of snow with temperatures in the low 20s.

The detailed forecast for Potsdam:

Thursday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 11. Light and variable wind becoming southeast around 6 mph after midnight.

Friday - A 30 percent chance of snow showers, mainly after 11am. Cloudy, with a high near 24. Northeast wind 7 to 16 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Friday night - A chance of snow and sleet before 1am, then a chance of freezing rain between 1am and 3am, then sleet likely after 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 21. East wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Saturday - Rain, snow, and sleet before 2pm, then rain likely, possibly mixed with snow. High near 36. Southeast wind 6 to 11 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Saturday night - A chance of snow before 7pm, then a chance of snow showers between 7pm and 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 15. West wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday - A 30 percent chance of snow showers after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 22. West wind 7 to 9 mph.

Sunday night - A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 4. West wind 3 to 7 mph.
