Weather service extends St. Lawrence County freezing rain advisory through 7 p.m. Wednesday night

The National Weather Service has extended their winter weather advisory for St. Lawrence County until 7 p.m.

Meteorologists expect freezing rain leaving two- to four-tenths of an inch of ice and slick roads creating difficult travel conditions.

The NWS expects the freezing rain to change to rain later tonight.

A seven-day forecast follows

• Tonight: Rain. Low around 35. Northeast wind 9 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

• Thursday: Rain. High near 42. East wind 6 to 13 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

• Thursday Night: Rain and snow likely before 7pm, then snow. Low around 11. Northwest wind 10 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

• Friday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 7am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 18. West wind 11 to 15 mph. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

• Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 7. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

• Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. Southwest wind 8 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

• Saturday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. West wind 10 to 18 mph.

• Sunday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 31. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

• Sunday Night: Snow showers likely, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

• Monday: Snow showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 24. West wind 5 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
