Weather will remain hot and muggy with a threat of thundershowers throughout the North Country, according to the National Weather Service.

The high humidity and temperatures are expected throughout the week, with a chance of thundershowers each day. Temperatures will drop-off slightly as the weekend approaches.

A seven-day forecast follows:

• Late Afternoon: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 86. Heat index values as high as 91. Southwest wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

• Tonight: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8pm. Patchy fog after 1am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 67. Southwest wind 9 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms

• Tuesday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Patchy fog before 7am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 85. Southwest wind around 10 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

• Tuesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 10pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Patchy fog after 1am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. Southwest wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
