CANTON -- Waydown Wailers, a Canton-based jam band is among eight semi-finalists in NYSMusic.com’s March Madness competition.
Less than a week ago, the tournament featured 64 teams, but has since been whittled down to just eight.
Mike Scriminger, drummer for the Wailers offered appreciation to those who helped band make it to the “elite eight.”
Voting for round 4 is underway for the remaining 8 teams.
Waydown Wailers first hit the music scene in 2012. In the wake of a successful reception of their debut album, “State of the Union” on the Woodstock Records label, the band have been busy playing shows in the northeast region, from small clubs to music festivals.
They have since released a second album.
They have opened for New Riders of the Purple Sage, Spin Doctors and Blue Coupe. http://nysmusic.com/2016/03/18/2016-march-madness-elite-eight/
