Warmth, humidity to continue into next week for North Country, National Weather Service says

The current warm and humid weather conditions in the North Country will continue through the weekend into next week, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers and thunderstorms will remain likely each day, the service says. Heavier rainfall is expected Thursday night and Friday morning, due to a low pressure system headed for the St. Lawrence Valley.

Fog is also possible Thursday, the service says.

The full forecast follows:

• Tonight Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy fog after 3am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 62. Southwest wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

• Thursday Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 83. Light and variable wind becoming northwest around 6 mph in the morning.

• Thursday Night Scattered showers and thunderstorms, then occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm after midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 66. Northeast wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

• Friday Occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 72. Breezy, with a northeast wind 15 to 20 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

• Friday Night Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 11pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Cloudy, with a low around 60. West wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

• Saturday A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
