The forecast for today is warm, windy and generally dry with temperatures running several degrees above normal despite cloudy skies, according to the National Weather Service (TWS).

Highs will be in the upper 40s today with south winds of 15 to 20 mph and gusts of 35 mph, the service says. Rain is possible this afternoon with a 40 percent chance predicted.

A strong cold front will move its way into the region overnight which will be accompanied by scattered rain showers along with sharply falling temperatures throughout the day, TWS says.

The forecast for the rest of week is cold and mainly dry.

Tuesday Sunny, with a high near 24. North wind around 7 mph becoming east in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night A chance of snow after 2am, mixing with sleet after 4am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 24. South wind 6 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Wednesday A chance of rain and sleet before 7am, then a chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 43. South wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
