Mostly cloudy skies will prevail in the North Country today and tonight with the chance of showers and thunderstorms before a mostly sunny day Sunday with moderate temperatures.

A warm front brought light showers to the St. Lawrence Valley early this morning. There could be some breaks in the clouds today but skies will remain mostly cloudy through the daylight hours, according to the National Weather Service. There is a chance of a few additional showers and a slight chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon.

High pressure building across the North Country from the eastern Great Lakes will bring clearing skies and warmer temperatures for Sunday with valley highs around 80 degrees, slightly cooler toward the Adirondacks.

Skies are expected to clear Sunday night before showers move in Monday afternoon.

• Monday: A 50 percent chance of showers after 11am. Increasing clouds, with a high near 79. South wind 5 to 10 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
