CANTON -- Meet War of 1812 soldier reenactors at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Second Saturday Children’s Program at the St. Lawrence County Historical Association, 3 East Main St. Kids will learn about all the clothing and equipment carried by a soldier and hear about the upcoming reenactment of the Battle of Ogdensburg.
The program is designed for ages 4 to 10, and their parents or caregivers. St. Lawrence County was one of the battlefields of the War of 1812.
On February 22, 1813, British troops stationed at Prescott crossed the St. Lawrence River ice and attacked the city of Ogdensburg. Learn about this battle and what it was like to be an American soldier during the War of 1812.
Kids will have a chance to have a picture taken in a period hat and try some military drills. Info: 386-8133 or info@slcha.org.
