PARISHVILLE -- With bear hunting season open and bow season for deer opening in St. Lawrence County soon, hunters who need help tracking a wounded animal can seek the help from a tracking dog.
Tom Rausch and Luna have begun their third season of tracking deer and bear.
Rausch wants to remind hunters to “clearly mark the hit site and the point of loss, then back out without grid searching.”
This helps in the tracking efforts.
“Hunters can unknowingly step in blood, then spread the scent all over the woods while grid searching, this makes Luna's job much more difficult than it would have been,” he said.
This is a free service.
So far, Luna has tracked 23 deer and three bear.
