Andrew Higgins was the first senior from Madrid-Waddington Central High School to win a scholarship award from the Canton Goldenaires.
When Higgins started piano lessons in elementary school, his love for music led to a wide variety of experiences through his school years.
He has been involved in band, select choir, and school musicals.
His involvements (other than performing) in plays included building sets, stage crew work, video taping performances and overseeing technical and sound aspects of various performances.
He was captain of the school robotics team and president of the auditorium technology club.
The Canton Goldenaires believe Andrew will contribute more to the world of music in the future.
He is a freshman at Rochester Institute of Technology.
The funding for the scholarship was provided by the Canton Goldenaires “Singing Valentines Program.”
Higgins attended a rehearsal of the chorus before leaving for Rochester.
