Waddington needs big push to win as voting in ‘Ultimate Fishing Town’ contest ends tomorrow
WADDINGTON -- Waddington has a long way to go to rise from second to first place as voting ends Thursday in the Ultimate Fishing Town contest from the World Fishing Network.
Lake Ontario town Olcott Beach, about 50 miles west of Rochester, has 126,000 votes to Waddington's nearly 75,000 votes.
The first-place prize is a $25,000 community donation to be used for fishing related causes and promotion in the winning town. A television feature about the winning town will be produced and broadcast on the World Fishing Network, WFN. And WFN will visit the winning town for a check presentation and media event.
Waddington had been in the lead a little more than two weeks ago. They came in second last year.
Voting closes at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 31.
Supporters can go to http://www.worldfishingnetwork.com/uft/home.php and vote four times a day, once each between midnight and 6 a.m., 6 a.m. to noon, noon to 6 p.m., and 6 p.m. to midnight. Bonus points can be earned by referring a friend, sharing on Facebook or Twitter, or listing a business.
