WADDINGTON -- The Whittaker Park Boat Launch will be closed during the Bassmasters Elite Tournament Wednesday, July 19 through Monday, July 24.
“We are sorry for any inconvenience but we need to accommodate 100 BASS Anglers,” said Mayor Janet Otto-Cassada “We hope that everyone understands.”
The tournament is a free family event, with live music, fireworks, rides and games for kids, plus much more for the crowds expected to watch some of the top anglers in the country compete for cash prizes.
Other attractions at Whitaker Park will be bass boat rides, a petting zoo, Giant Hawg Troughs Fishing Tank Show, a “Veil of the Nile” show, 100 vendors of assorted wares, and food, beer and wine slushies.
Waddigton was host to Bassmasters Elite events in 2013 and 2015. Bassmasters organizers said the 34,000 spectators at the 2013 event was the most ever for a Bassmasters tournament.
