WADDINGTON -- To accommodate the B.A.S.S. Bassmasters Elite Tournament this week, two boat launches near the St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Hydroelectric Power Plant will be closed for five days beginning today.

The New York Power Authority (NYPA) says it will close the Whittaker Park and Brandy Brook boat launches, effective today through Monday. Both boat launches will reopen on Tuesday, Aug. 13.

Recreational boaters are encouraged to use other launches in the immediate area, such as those at Lisbon Beach, Coles Creek Marina and Robert Moses State Park.

The top-ranked bass anglers in the country will all be on the St. Lawrence River for the tournament, based out of Waddington.
