CANTON -- The deadline for voter registration is fast approaching in St. Lawrence County.
The last day to register to vote in the Nov. 6 general election is Saturday, Oct. 13, when the St. Lawrence County Board of Elections will be open special hours in the former jail, 48 Court St.reet Canton, from noon to 9 p.m. Oct. 13 for those who still need to register.
Local town races include Canton Town Justice, Fowler Councilman, Lousiville Town Justice, Oswegatchie Town Clerk, Parishville Town Justice, Piercefield Town Justice, Pierrepont Councilman and Pitcairn Councilman.
Several village offices are also up for election this year, including two Canton Village Trustees, three Gouverneur Village Trustees, two Heuvelton village trustees, two Massena Village Trustees, two Rensselaer Falls Village Trustees, and two Waddington Village Trustees.
Several state offices will also be on the ballot this November, including State Assembly members for the 115th, 116th, 117th, and 118th districts. Voters will also be electing State senators in the 45th, 47th and 48th districts. A State Supreme Court judge for the 4th judicial district will also be on the ballot.
On the national level, in addition to the race for President and Vice President of the United States, voters in Northern New York will be casting votes for U.S. Senator. The 21st district Congressional race includes incumbent Democrat Bill Owens, Republican Matt Doheny and Green Party candidate Don Hassig.
