WINTHROP -- Volunteer firefighters are battling a blaze along State Rt. 420 near Winthrop.
St. Lawrence County Fire Rescue Deputy Kevin Durant said a residence there was on fire.
He said the people inside called 911 and all got out safely.
Brasher-Winthrop and West Stockholm firefighters were on the scene along with Tri-Town Rescue, while Helena and Potsdam fire departments were on standby.
Durant said it appeared to him that the blaze was under control.
