St. Lawrence County Office for the Aging is searching for community-minded volunteers from Star Lake, Edwards, Oswegatchie, and Newton Falls region to provide transportation for “Seniors in Need” to non-emergency medical appointments.
Appointments include doctor and dentist visits, laboratory tests, and drop-offs for hospital stays.
If you have an interest in sharing your time helping seniors, then this opportunity may be for you.
This ride program is open to St. Lawrence County senior citizens, age 60 or older, who are not Medicaid recipients, and are able to move about with minimal assistance. This is a volunteer program, however drivers are reimbursed at the current federal mileage rate of $.565 per mile.
