MASSENA -- The village collected just over 91 percent of their total taxes for the year, Treasurer Julie Sharlow told the board on Tuesday.
She said they collected $5,653,735 through the end of the collection period, which is 91.71 percent of the total, she said, which compares to 91.85 percent last year.
The board voted to return to the county $550,100 plus $39,307 in interest and fees in unpaid taxes on 374 lots, which they will receive in February.
Last year, they returned $568,162 in unpaid taxes on 364 lots, Sharlow’s report says.
