CANTON – The village board recently appointed several new department members and hired a new crossing guard.
Jessica Prody was officially appointed to the village planning board at the trustees’ Nov. 20 meeting.
Prody takes over the position recently vacated by Klaus Proemm who was appointed to the village Board of Trustees. Proemm also ran unopposed for the seat in the November election and will continue on at that post in 2018.
Prody’s term will last until Dec. 2, 2019
At the meeting, the board also approved two new members to the Canton Fire Department. Abigail Brennan and Jerome Saliba were added to the department roster unanimously by the mayor and trustees.
Eleanor Harradine was appointed as a crossing guard. She will take over the crossing in front of Canton Central previously guarded by Jack Townsend, who retired after the spring semester. Harradine will be paid $11 an hour for about 45 minutes of work per day at the crossing.
