CANTON -- The village board here is exploring the possibility of extending the term lengths of the village trustees from two years to four.
A public hearing on the matter will be held Monday, April 16, at 6 p.m. The regular village board meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m.
“I think it will be interesting to hear people’s thoughts,” said Village Trustee Carol Pynchon.
In order for the terms to be extended, a local law would need to be drafted. The draft law would then be subject to a permissive referendum period prior to passage, allowing the public to comment further on the change.
