WINTHROP -- The A-4 Skyhawk in Winthrop symbolizes the Vietnam War (1961-1975) and the American Legion Post 514 is compiling names of veterans that served in Vietnam or assisted in the war effort from neighboring countries or waters.
Any veteran that attended S.L.C. or is a member of the community are eligible to have their name inscribed on a plaque which will be attached to A-4 pedestal.
Tentative plans call for a dedication of the plaque on Memorial Day followed by the Legion's ceremony recognizing Vietnam Veterans who have died from injuries, exposure to Agent Orange or PTSD.
Submit names by April 1 to winthroplegion@yahoo.com or 315-389-9102.
