Veteran WWNY-tv St. Lawrence County reporter John Friot is leaving the Watertown television station for a job on state Sen. Patty Ritchie’s staff.
He begins the job at the end of the month.
“The name John Friot is synonymous with St. Lawrence County news and for decades, he has been a major reason why WWNY TV’s coverage is so informative and well-respected among viewers throughout our region,” said Ritchie.
“His work as a reporter has allowed him to learn firsthand about the issues affecting people in the North Country and I am excited that he will be bringing his knowledge and talents to my office.”
His title and duties were not described in the announcement from Ritchie’s office this afternoon.
A native of St. Lawrence County, Friot has been a photojournalist for the station for over 30 years.
