Very cold again tonight, then temps ease up in St. Lawrence Valley

A sunny afternoon, a clear night with sub-zero temperatures, and then temperatures will begin to moderate in the St. Lawrence Valley for a few days, according the National Weather Service forecast.

Today’s high is expected to be about 19 degrees, and with west winds at about 9 mph, the wind chill will reach as low as zero.

It will be frigid tonight, with an expected low of about 14 below, and it will only take a breeze of 6 mph to bring the wind chill down to minus 22.

Sunny skies are anticipated again Wednesday, with a high around 20 degrees, and then on Thursday and Friday, high temps could approach 30 degrees.

There is no snow in the NWS outlook before Friday night.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and the northwestern Adirondacks:

• This Afternoon: Mostly sunny, with a high near 13. Wind chill values as low as zero. West wind around 9 mph.

• Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around -14. Wind chill values as low as -22. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

• Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 20. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.

• Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 11. Wind chill values as low as zero. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph after midnight.

• Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 28. South wind around 6 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon.

• Thursday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow after 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 14. Northeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

• Friday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 29. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.
